Easy preserves made with dried figs and fresh apples reduced with sake. Delicious with cheese, scrumptious on toast and even better in yogurt.
Ingredients
250 gramsdried figs (finely diced)
1/2 cupsake
200 gramsgranulated sugar
1/3 cupwater
1 cinnamon stick
200 gramsapples (peeled and finely diced)
Instructions
Put the figs, and sake in a sealable bag, and press out as much air as possible before sealing the bag. Soak overnight.
When you're ready to make the preserves, add the sugar, water and cinnamon stick to a small saucepan and then add the apples and figs.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium high heat and then adjust the heat down to maintain a medium boil.
Boil until the preserves are thick and syrupy, about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally to make sure it's not burning.
Let your preserves cool before transferring to a container and storing in the fridge.
